Before you get your feelings hurt reading through this mostly uneducated write-up, keep in mind that this is just one man’s opinion. If you disagree, either prove me wrong or feel free to make your own. I’m not going to go super in depth with this so apologies if I miss some things.
9) Helen Chelers – Captains Reep and Horsemeat
At the bottom of the standings you’ll (unfortunately) find my own team. I believe that hammer being at 59 bods is about right l, but that’s where the positives end for us. Myself being paid 21 bods as part time was probably a mistake(I suck), and lack of defense and goaltending is definitely going to be an uphill battle for the boys. Unless we can score 8 goals a game we might be fooked.
8) Average Dekes – Captains Chandler and Fraaqside
I have these boys at 8 because I have no idea who chandler or feaaqside are, never seen them play, never even heard of them. That’s not a shot at them, I just don’t know you. Schemmm (60) is about the right price, and Jesus (20) is about normal. I just don’t like 80 bods on 2 players. If one of them is having an off night you’re going to lose the games. Maybe some roster moves can be made to spread out their talent. Wait and see I guess.
7) OnlyDogs – Captains P4LE PWNR and Renfri
Let me start this by saying Rawb for 42 is pretty cheap for how shallow the draft pool was. Like my own contract, I’m not a fan of dominator Silvas, regardless of skill level at defense, 20+ for a part timer is just too much and it could’ve been better used elsewhere on the team. The rest of their team I’m pretty unfamiliar with, but gannabis at 1 bod is probably on point.
6) Hopium – Captains Wizzywar and JSquad
I’m not super familiar with wizzy, but I do know that JSquad is an amazing tendy, and there weren’t a ton of top end tendys available so maybe one of the only times I’d say it was a good idea to have a managing goalie. I like this team because everyone is full time and that’s going to produce more chemistry than the teams that use a lot of part timers. I don’t know epik or melo so wait and see, Mashotpa at 57 is very reasonable for a top end talent and I believe gala at 5 is a steal. If this team gets solid chemistry and practices in the off time they’re going to be a difficult opponent.
5) Elprezadenta Diablos – Captains Master Shotgun and Lemanski
Let me start by saying this is where I think my power rankings have the potential to change a bit. But at MINIMUM these guys will finish top 5. Another completely full time team might struggle in the opening week but will find the chemistry to make them dominant. The forward core with Lemanski and A1 is gonna be difficult to stop especially in a draft pool that struggles at defense. Let’s also note that in a draft with top end talent going for 50-60 we let A1 go for 25? Make it make sense. I’m not too familiar with mecciah (autocorrect wants me to call you mexican) but if Lemanski dropped the bag on him I’m sure he’s worth it. The only question I have for this team is their goal tending, if they have a good one they’re all set, but if SDRacer can’t stop a beach ball then they might have to tweak some things. I have high expectations for this squad and again, they’re probably ranked lower than they should be.
4) Dragon Goose – Captains Rocky, Trey, Bcbud
It’s basically the same team you’ll see season after season with a few changing variables. This team will have a solid season and probably make it deep into playoffs but have nothing to show for it at the end. I’m sorry boys it just seems to be a recurring theme. Sauce at 55 bods is what you would expect as he’s a top end talent in this league, and lundieee (16) is a solid tender in a draft pool with not a whole lot of top end goalie talent. Maybe a little overpaid for a goalie but you’ve gotta do what you’ve gotta do. Joe shiney at 18 I think is a bit of an overpay but at the end of the day you wanna play with your friends so do what you must. I’ve never seen fatal or gonyou so hopefully they work out as planned. Again, this team will have a great season, but they aren’t gonna win the cup.
3) Puck Ups – Captains Zigz and ProdigiousCoot
Both captains are very solid players and I’d be happy if I were one of the players who landed a roster spot here. Let’s start with St1dwallgoat (5) very solid tendy for 5 bods? Yes please! However I don’t love the sonic Joe part time contract of 23. Joe is a great skater but I don’t think he’s worth that much (prove me wrong). Other than me not liking Joes contract there’s nothing else I see wrong here. Very solid draft by these guys.
2) Little Pecker Club – Captains Raterle & That 1 odd guy
The potential offensive firepower these guys have is off the charts. This isn’t a team I’d be thrilled to play defense against. I don’t love the gilbz contract (part time 23 bods) but I do understand it as he’s very solid. Iggy for 19 makes me want to slap every other manager for allowing raterle that steal. Shame on all of you. Defense and goaltending might need some attention but that pretty much goes for every team in the league. I can easily see these guys going to the finals.
Denim Chickens – Captains Dvetts, Rocko, Sando
The reigning champions are back to defend their belt and in my opinion they have the squad to make it happen. Weazle being a top end goalie talent for only 14 is a good contract. Dcore is also probably the most consistent in the league in my personal opinion. These guys aren’t going to be easy to score on, and I think they’ll have an easy time finding the back of the net on the opposite end of the ice. Lord knows I’m not dvetts biggest fan, but there’s no denying the dude knows how to build a team. I expect this squad to repeat and then come back and try for a 3rd time on NHL 25.
