S37 Post Draft Power Rankings

It’s clear that rawb wanted to go with another variation of the cob team that surprisingly had a lot of success last season. That’s great and all, but the captain list is much stronger this season and I still don’t really see any star power to make a serious threat at a title. Sure they have chem and will hang around/maybe even have a better than expected record, but I do not see them as a threat for a cup. Rawb handcuffed himself to one of his least favorite spots on the ice. He left a lot of bods on the table, but I don’t know how he even would have really spent more because he knew who he wanted. Bloody is going to have to have another MVP caliber season. Getting a LW only roman when he has a LW only tony was very head scratching.

Schemm predictably went after his cuddle buddy from the last 2 seasons in blip, and for good reason. They have been extremely dynamic and borderline unbeatable when playing together. This team has some serious holes, however. At first, getting coot for 22 bods or whatever seems like ridiculous value, until you realize he will be sipping martinis from a beach side view for the last week of the regular season and first 2 weeks of the playoffs. I have no doubt they will be a good team for the regular season, but I think even with schemm+blip there are too many holes for playoff hockey.  Kelch being your #1 dman for playoffs is vomit inducing grosssss. They don’t have the best center option and bear is probably one of the lower tier goalies in this draft. It will be very interesting to see how this plays out, I predict a solid top 4 regular season team that gets bounced assuredly in either the 1st or 2nd round before coot can come back

Cee put together one of the most complete forward lines I see, it could be very dynamic. However, I absolutely despise their back half. Jimmy is really going to have to prove that he is the #1 dman he thinks he is if they want a shot at a cup.  He will have to carry a very poor RD and subpar G combo on the back half.

This draft strategy puzzled me. Wizzy let many guys go early, as he usually does, but this draft did not have a whole lot of depth and I think he regrets not using all his empty bods on another impact player. This might also be one of the most nausea inducing locker rooms combos of people I have ever seen. Wizzy got a lot of guys for good value but there are reasons why they went low, whether it be availability issues, players not playing their usual spots, etc. Will be interesting to see how he pieces this mess of a roster (and personalities) together to try to make it competitive.

At first glance some may say that reep grabbed 3 goalies for no reason, but presumably he will make a trade right? Even if he doesn’t, positionally it doesn’t mess him up too much. He methodically drafted guys who went a little lower than they should of and got the big splash with Terry at a ton of bods PT. I too had Terry on my team for 35 bods PT and we won, so it’s possible. I do think that besides him this team lacks oomph and some puck carrying capability, but I actually like it better than a lot of people will at first glance.

Rocko built what I feel is a very sneaky good roster, with many upper middle tier players that went for pretty cheap considering the weak draft pool. He has a lot of chem with almost all these players as well. Dan was the best defensive steal in the draft for 2 bods, captains did not do their homework because I think he was a top 3 or 4 defensive player in this draft. A solid center and good RW, as well as smart player in Matt and 239 ultimate glue guy choco. Rocko has good pieces and flexibility, I like it!

Do I actually think they had the best draft? Absolutely not. But it doesn’t matter because abutt/veds are a clear tier above everyone else, even with this being a “high bod captain season”. We’ve seen it before, where we look at the roster and say “ew” but they dog walk everyone. I think the roster construct is pretty decent though.  Rocky will probably be on wing and fung on D as he was for the cup run last season. Somebody please, can we stop proving me right that it’s complete BS that they are a free contract and let’s beat these guys.

Not really ranking, but I do want to say I like it a lot! Getting 2 of the best 4 or 5 forwards IMO right off the bat was something I did not expect to be able to do. Filling RW with a somehow 2 bod steal in lucas was amazing. Love goog in net and just need ace to get his big boy pants on otherwise he’s benched for rebel (he might ride pine anyway, not sure yet).
