Welcome back to my playoff preview, I did this last season, and it seemed to be enjoyed by the community so I’m back doing it again. I’m not sure I’ll have the time to do post-game reviews, but I will try my best. Anyway, let’s get to the good stuff.
DIG DEEP (3) VS DEAD WINGS (6)
REGULAR SEASON MATCHUP: 2-1 Dig deep
On paper, this looks like a pretty one-sided matchup. Dig deep finished the season in 3rd place with a 13-6-5 record while dead wings secured their spot with a 9-11-4 record. Matt444444 and his squad role into the series with more goals scored and less given up. If you dig a little deeper (no pun intended) into the stats it gets worse for dead wings. Dig deep comes in with a 30.4% powerplay which is one of the better powerplays in the league while dead wings penalty kill is 69% one of the worst remaining in the playoffs. If the dead wings want any chance at coming out of this series, they absolutely need to stay out of the box. Even with all that said, this is 239 Hockey where anything is possible. If schemm does schemm things and they decide to lock in they could take this series.

REGULAR SEASON MATCHUP: 2-1 Rebuilding forever
Since this is my team’s series I’m going to lean on AI a little more, so it doesn’t come off biased. I uploaded all of the teams stats and asked for a prediction and write up.
AI: This is the matchup everyone should be watching, only one point separated these teams in the standings. Rebuilding forever’s strength is balance. They scored 86 goals and only allowed 73. They also own one of the league”s best penalty kills at 88.2%. No soup for you has only allowed 70 goals all season, the second fewest among playoff teams. If their offense heats up at the right time, they have all the tools for an upset. Expect a physical, low scoring series where special teams and goal tending will decide multiple games.
